Protect yourself from identify theft, deed theft, and other scams by joining AARP Nebraska and American Legion Post 374 for a free paper shredding event! On Saturday, June 1, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. CDT, we’ll be hosting a free paper shredding event with an on-site shred truck at American Legion Post 374’s parking lot area, located at 13913 S Street in Omaha, Nebraska. Event ends at scheduled time or when truck is full, whichever comes first. There is a three bag or box limit per participant/vehicle. Paper only, please. Staples and metal binder clips should be removed in advance. Should the cardboard recycling receptable reach capacity, boxes will be emptied and returned to participants.
Scammers stole approximately $477 million from veteran and military families last year—about $63 million more than in 2022—making the military community one of the most targeted and losing more on average than their civilian counterparts. By taking preventative measures, you can help spot and stop scams. To learn more about how to become a Fraud Fighter, visit the AARP Fraud Watch Network(TM) at aarp.org/fraudwatch. Reserve your time window below for drop off of sensitive documents for shredding. Pre-registration is highly recommended as space is limited. Volunteers will check in confirmed reservations upon arrival.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION: To ease traffic congestion, please do not arrive earlier than your scheduled time window, as no waiting will be permitted.
