Join AARP on Thursday, December 19th at the Nebraska History Museum for their monthly Brown Bag Lecture.  December's program features author Trevor Jones presenting on his book "Major, A Soldier Dog".  During WWII, the U.S. Military established the Fort Robinson War Dogs Training Center in western Nebraska, training over 17,000 "dogs for defense" and deploying them to battlefields and installations all over the world.  At the beginning of the program, civilians throughout the region volunteered their dogs for service. Thousands answered the call, and their pets served our country courageously as guards, scouts, messengers, sled runners, and more.  AARP will provide a free sandwich to the first 50 attendees.  No registration is required and entrance to the event is free.  Come early as seating is limited.
