Members of the Baby Boomer and Silent Generation have asked questions about how to text, send photos, understand ChatGPT and safely use social media, according to Brenda Skeffington, Recreation Coordinator at the Silvermont Senior Center in Brevard. To begin answering such queries, the city of Brevard’s Age Exchange is hosting a forum of intergenerational programming to answer these and similar concerns.
Dan Rickert, IT Faculty Coordinator and IT Instructor at Blue Ridge Community College, will address cybersecurity issues. Rickert acquired his Masters degree in Business Information Technology with a concentration in cyber security from Walsh College in the Detroit area. Millennial Yvette Brooks, President of the Brevard Rotary Club, is the executive director and founder of the Brevard non-profit, Through the Trees, which helps to bridge the digital divide in Transylvania County. She will present, “ChatGPT across Generations: Decoding Millennial and Gen Z conversations for Boomers and Beyond.”
The program is free, open to the public, and registration is not required.
