Joy for the Holidays
Tips for dementia-friendly celebrations
A joint program series with AARP Missouri and the Alzheimer’s Association, Greater Missouri Chapter
For families living with Alzheimer’s and other dementias, the holidays can be bittersweet and challenging. Festivities can agitate or confuse individuals with the disease. Care partners can be overwhelmed by trying to maintain holiday traditions while providing care. Holiday gatherings and family get-togethers can become stressful and uncomfortable. However, with planning, adjusted expectations, and tips from the Alzheimer’s Association, seasonal celebrations can still be happy and meaningful.
