"Yo Tengo Hambre - I'm Hungry" a Conversation on Food Insecurity During a Pandemic in the Latino Community
Join AARP Massachusetts on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 from 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm on Zoom app or online platform (you will receive a link after you register for the event).
We will have an open discussion on how the Latino/Hispanic/Latinx community during the COVID-19 pandemic is challenged in meeting their need for food. Along with African-Americans Latinos have the highest unemployment rates and are disproportionately affected by lack of quality supermarkets in their community. People are waking up hungry and going to bed hungry. This is happening in one of the richest countries in the world. What can we do to address the needs of our community?
Moderator: Jorge Quiroga, former Boston TV news reporter and AARP Massachusetts Executive Council Member.
This meeting will be conducted in English and Spanish. Esta reunion sera en Inglés y Español.
You will leave this meeting with a list of resources for accessing SNAP and EBT benefits, learn where food is being distributed throughout the greater Boston area, and more. Hope you will join us.
