About the Event
Participants will learn the basics of hot water canning, a technique used for tomatoes, berries and other produce with a high acid content. We’ll demonstrate how to use it to make salsa.
Learn the types of tools used, types of foods that can be canned using this method and some of the history of canning, which has helped families cope with food insecurity for centuries. Canning produce from your garden or farm share also helps prevent food waste and provides greater access to healthier and lower-cost foods.
