Join us for a presentation about the origins of American Transcendentalism and where it all got started - Concord, Massachusetts.
About the Event
We’ll dig deep into the lives and ideas of writers Ralph Waldo Emerson and Henry David Thoreau and how they made Concord, Massachusetts, the epicenter of American Transcendentalist thought and action in the first half of the 19th century. Transcendentalism is an American literary, philosophical, religious, and political movement encompassing belief in individualism, the divinity of nature, and idealism.
Presenter Richard Piccarreto is a cultural site interpreter at the Old Manse in Concord, a Visitor Center tour guide for the Town of Concord and the Membership and Development Coordinator for The Thoreau Society.
