AARP  Shangri La Tour

Saturday, May 18, 2019

8:30 am to 11:00 am

Join us on a specially reserved tour for AARP members and their guests of Doris Duke's Shangri La. Her splendid home and gardens overlook the Pacific Ocean.  Shangri La is now a museum of Islamic art, culture and design which is shown by appointment only.  Trained docents from the Honolulu Museum of Art will lead the walking tour and tell you the history of and interesting facts about the estate and it's contents.

The tour begins at the Honolulu Museum of Art, a ride to the location and back to the museum. Meet at 8:30 am at the Ward St. entrance to the museum for check-in.  Tour begins at 9:00 am and returns at 11 am. Note: the museum does not allow large bags or backpacks on the tour. Bottled drinks are also not allowed.  There will be water served during a short rest break on the balcony.

Your $20 fee includes an all day museum pass which includes Spalding House at 2411 Makiki Heights Dr, Honolulu, HI.  If you've never visited Spalding House in Makiki, it's a short drive up the hill behind Roosevelt High School.

Parking: We recommend parking in the museum lot behind the Art School on Victoria St. rather than using metered parking as the tour may not return exactly on time. Cost is $5 for 5 hours.  The parking lot entrance is on Young St.

Cancellation - refunds will be made for cancellations before May 12th.  After May 12th we will not be able to provide a refund.
