Hawaii Landlord-Tenant Mediation During Covid 19

Learn about your rights in regard to rent-based evictions and find out how the free mediation services provided by the Mediation Center of the Pacific can help landlords and tenants talk now to create a plan for moving forward.

Presented by Volunteer Legal Services Hawaii and the Mediation Center of the Pacific.

Background:

The pandemic has threatened many people’s housing. And some relationships between landlord and tenant have become strained or broken in the stress of the past year. With an ever-moving date for the end of the moratorium on rent-based evictions, it is important that tenants and landlords talk now to create a plan and bring some stability to their lives.

Mediation is an effective tool that brings landlords and tenants together safely to discuss their current situation and come to a realistic agreement that satisfies both of their needs. Mediation offers an informal, non-adversarial environment and an impartial mediator to assist with these discussions about payment plans, rent reduction, property repairs, behaviors, or any other issue that has been worsened by the pandemic.

Find out how you can access FREE mediation services and start building your housing plan together.

The Mediation Center of the Pacific is a 501(c)(3) non profit corporation that was founded in 1979 to provide Hawai'i's people with peaceful approaches to working through conflict.
