Join AARP CO for an 6 week Virtual Barre Class in the comfort of your own home. Certified fitness instructor, Shauni Hawkins will lead you each week at 10:15 a.m., Mondays, March 11 - April 15, 2024.
AARP realizes that healthy habits, including exercise and eating right, can lead to a better, longer, happier life. Barre is a fun fusion class, incorporating aspects of ballet, Pilates, yoga, and strength training. All levels are welcome, and previous experience in any of these formats is not required. In the class, we combine small isolated movements with larger range of motion movements for a high intensity, low impact workout. We will work to improve muscle endurance, core strength, posture, balance, and flexibility.
Suggested equipment (and alternatives):
1. light dumbbells (or cans/water bottles)
2. small squishy playground ball (or small throw pillow/stuffed animal)
3. paper plate (on carpet) or small towel (on hard surface flooring)
4. loop resistance band (option to use no band)
5. chair without wheels
There is no charge for this class, but pre-registration is required. Space is limited so register today! Each participant must complete a waiver of liability as part of the registration process prior to participating. If you would like to invite a guest to this event, they will need to register themselves directly to agree to the liability waiver.
