The role of a “family” caregiver is unique and can often lead to feelings of stress, anxiety and depression which can affect the health of the caregiver as well as the care provided to the loved one in need of care.
Journal writing is a self-controlled and cost effective way to manage emotional needs and is becoming more commonly used as a way to teach better self care and assist in reducing stress. This course is designed to be used with “family” caregivers to help them identify negative feelings and emotions and find positive solutions. Upon completion of this course, caregivers will have tools to identify and manage negative feelings as well as an understanding of the importance of listening to their emotional needs and practicing self-care.
Program Description: Participants will learn how to use journal writing as a tool to better:
• Understand and identify feelings of stress, anxiety and depression due to emotional demands
• Discover healthy options to manage negative feelings and emotions
• Identify ways to make time for self-care
• Create a plan for self care and stress management using the journal techniques taught.
