Jewish Family & Children’s Service (JFCS) launched Expresso Yourself Memory Cafés in 2017. Expresso Yourself Memory Cafés are monthly interactive arts engagements for individuals with mild cognitive impairment due to Alzheimer's disease or a related disorder, and their care partners. Documented research in numerous publications have cited engagements involving the creative arts, such as music, dance, poetry, visual arts, and art education draw upon aspects of cognitive functioning that are affected last and least by most conditions causing dementia. Administered through the JFCS Older Adult Services Department, Expresso Yourself Memory Cafés is a one of the four Creative Aging programs − all focusing on providing meaningful experiences aimed at improving quality of life for older adults and reducing social isolation.
