The decennial census has been conducted in years ending in "0" since 1790, as required by the U.S. Constitution. Article I, Section 2. Census data is used to make decisions affecting legislation and spending on housing, highways, hospitals, schools, assistance programs, and scores of projects and programs that are vital to the health and welfare of the U.S. population and economy. Alaska has the distinction of having the “first to be counted” community in the country – Toksook Bay. To hear why this is, and what to expect in our own community, we welcome Keisha Lafayette, US Census Bureau Partnership Specialist for the Matanuska-Susitna Borough. 6:00 – 7:30 pm
