Event is Cancelled

This event has been cancelled.  While convening events such as this is a core part of our mission, we have changed our approach in light of the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

We want you to know that AARP is providing information and resources to help older people and caregivers protect themselves from the virus and prevent its spread. You can find AARP's coronavirus resources at We also point you to, and your state and local health agencies for the latest information.

Actually, you may not! We cannot know by looking at another person whether they might be experiencing hearing loss. It’s an invisible type of sensory loss and many people who experience it don’t like to talk about it. Instead, they find they are often unwilling or unable to participate in conversation, further isolating them from others. There is no shame in hearing loss, as it is common with the aging process, and it often occurs so gradually even those affected don’t notice until it becomes a real problem. This topic is presented by popular demand, and our guest presenter is WORTH LISTENING TO! Dr. Emily McMahon, audiologist from the Alaska Hearing & Tinnitus Center, will help us pay attention to “Better Hearing Month” and give us the information we need to tune in to better hearing. Come and join us and don’t say we didn’t tell you!! Registration is required for this free event – Call 877-926-8300 to register by phone – ask operator for “AARP AK Age Smart” or online at Disregard any message saying the event is full. You can also register at the door.
