ATLANTA, Georgia – AARP Georgia is thrilled to announce the newest member of our team, Tamacia Woolcock, who will be joining us starting March 18th. Get ready to extend a warm welcome as Tamacia steps into her role with us here in Georgia.

A senior at Georgia State University, Tamacia is on the cusp of graduating in the spring of 2025. Her academic journey has been focused on multimedia reporting, complemented by a minor in political science. Tamacia's experience extends far beyond the classroom walls.

Before landing here with us, Tamacia spent five years honing her skills as a copy editor and news page designer at the Marietta Daily Journal. She's not just a seasoned professional in the making—she's also an active member of the Atlanta Association of Black Journalists. This dedication to her craft is something we truly admire.

Tamacia's journey into journalism was sparked by evenings spent watching the news with her grandfather, a cherished memory from her childhood. Her passion for storytelling, on the other hand, she credits to her grandmother—a gift that's been nurtured and developed over the years.

Originally hailing from the stunning island of Jamaica, Tamacia made her way to Miami, Florida, after graduating high school. While she misses the tropical weather and the delectable jerk chicken, her heart still holds a special place for the 7-mile beach and the golden sunsets at Rick's Café in Negril.

When she's not busy uncovering stories or buried in books, Tamacia enjoys capturing moments through photography, delving into poetry and history, and indulging in period pieces—particularly anything Jane Austen. Music also plays a significant role in her life, with a soft spot for dancehall and reggae tunes.

In her downtime, you might find Tamacia cruising along trails on her bicycle or indulging in a bit of retail therapy. And while she's already accomplished so much, her aspirations don't stop here. Tamacia dreams of adding "World Traveler" to her list of pastimes—an adventure we hope she embarks on soon.

Here’s to new beginnings and the exciting journey ahead with Tamacia by our side. Let's give her a warm AARP Georgia welcome!
