Senior Planet from AARP at the Mirowitz Center

In 2023, the Mirowitz Center became the first Senior Planet from AARP licensed facility/organization in the state of Missouri and will be the only licensee in St. Louis County creating more technology program opportunities for older adults! INTRODUCTION TO SMART PHONE PHOTOGRAPHY
Thursday, May 9
1:00 - 2:00 pm (in person)

Come learn about smartphone features like recording videos, adding filters to pictures, and using your camera's timer! Mirowitz Center Trainer Jim Salih also will go over basic camera tips for taking good selfies, selecting backgrounds, and using optimal lighting. This presentation will cover both Android devices and iPhones. No cost to attend, but RSVP required.

ONLINE TOOLS FOR CONTACTING YOUR LAWMAKERS (Part 1 of 2)

Stay informed and get your voice heard! During this 60-minute program, Mirowitz Center Trainer Daniel Landsbaum broadly reviews several non-partisan websites that help identify elected officials, find contact information, explain how they vote on bills, and enable you to express your opinion about important issues. Then next month, sign up for the follow-up workshop – “What’s Congress Up To?” (Part 2 of 2) – where you’ll learn more specifically about the GovTrack.us website and practice accessing the information, using a Chromebook computer that we provide. Attend both sessions, or just one; prior attendance not necessary. No cost to register, but RSVP required.

GMAIL TIPS AND TRICKS

Do you want to do more than just send and receive emails? This workshop covers important Gmail features like spell-checking, formatting emails, searching your inbox, adding a signature, and attaching files. Mirowitz Center Trainer Larry Edison will combine demos and hands-on practice, so you’ll have plenty of opportunities to ask questions and try out different features.

Curious about online petitions? Add your voice to the hundreds of thousands of petitions circulating every day to support causes that are important to you. In this hands-on workshop, Mirowitz Center Trainer Daniel Landsbaum demonstrates how to browse petitions, sign up for a Change.org account, and start your own petition!

In this hands-on 90-minute workshop, Mirowitz Center Trainer Daniel Landsbaum focuses on the GovTrack.us website and its main features: identifying elected representatives, seeing how they vote, and learning about bills. Walk through the sign-up process and establish GovTrack.us email alerts to hold lawmakers accountable! Advocate for the issues that are important to you!
