In the spirit of Valentine's Day, a dedicated group of 15 volunteers from the Western PA Volunteer Teams came together for a special initiative aimed at spreading love and joy to those who have served our country and to residents of senior facilities in Pittsburgh. Organized by Colleen Cadman, Associate State Director of Community Outreach in Pittsburgh, the effort was part of the broader Cupid's Crew project, focusing on making a positive impact in the lives of veterans and seniors across Allegheny and Westmoreland counties.

A core group of volunteers made their way to the Southwest PA Veterans Center, delivering roses and spending quality time socializing with the veterans. The veterans expressed immense happiness and gratitude for having visitors on Valentine's Day, a simple yet profound gesture reminding them of their valued place in the community.

In addition to the visit at the Veterans Center, other team members took the initiative to deliver cards and smiles to senior facilities within their own communities. In total, the heartfelt effort resulted in the distribution of 150 roses and over 1,100 cards, many of which were printed or made locally, to 14 facilities throughout the two counties.

Colleen Cadman shared her thoughts on the initiative: "This Valentine's Day, our volunteers went above and beyond to ensure that our veterans and seniors felt remembered and cherished. The joy and appreciation we witnessed were truly heartwarming. It's a beautiful reminder of the difference we can make with small acts of kindness and how these efforts bring us closer as a community."

The success of this initiative underscores the power of volunteerism and community outreach in fostering connections and spreading kindness. Through their actions, the volunteers of the Western PA Volunteer Teams have shown how collective efforts can bring warmth and happiness to many, reinforcing the importance of looking out for one another, especially on days meant for expressing love and appreciation.
