Get Off the Sidelines; Be a Part of PrideFest

Posted on 05/31/17 by TheAARPBulletin, AARP Blog Author

AARP members and their guests can be part of this year’s PrideFest parade—starting at noon on Sunday, June 25—by reserving a seat to ride on the AARP float.

As a sponsor of PrideFest 2017, a celebration of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community, AARP in St. Louis will also have a booth at the event on Saturday and Sunday, June 24 and 25, at Soldiers Memorial Park in downtown St. Louis.

The public and AARP members are encouraged to stop by the booth to learn more about AARP activities and volunteer opportunities in St. Louis.

This year’s PrideFest theme is “Community Proud.”

Since its inception in 1981, the annual PrideFest celebration in St. Louis has grown into one of the largest LGBT events in the Midwest. More than a quarter of a million people attended PrideFest last year, when the parade was the largest in the city’s PrideFest history.

AARP is inclusive in its policies, programs and advocacy. The association has a long history of supporting equality on issues ranging from taxation and employment to long-term care and retirement income.

AARP members interested in riding on the float can reserve a seat online or call 877-926-8300 toll-free. Space is limited and registration is required.—John Reinhart
