At Home Show, Tips for Aging in Place
Looking for ways to help you or a relative age safely at home? AARP in St. Louis will offer ideas and innovations at the 37th annual Builders Home & Remodeling Show, Sept. 22-24 at the St. Charles Convention Center.
Featuring more than 300 vendor booths, it’s the area’s largest fall home event.
AARP in St. Louis, a sponsor of the show, will host a booth throughout the event that will focus on introducing HomeFit resources to attendees.
AARP research consistently finds that most people 50 and older want to age in place and stay in their homes for as long as possible.
The AARP HomeFit Guide, which will be available, was created to help people remain in their homes by turning where they live into a “lifelong home.”
The guide describes improvements ranging from simple do-it-yourself fixes to more complex projects that require skilled expertise but are worth the expense for residents wanting to remain in their home. The HomeFit Guide also includes tips on specific needs.
AARP will be in booth number 2117 on the convention center’s upper floor. Gifts such as night-lights or grabbers to help reach items on the floor will be available to those who stop by and show their membership card.
