Arlene Grosso: Empowering Aging Communities Through Innovation and Advocacy

Arlene Grosso is a beacon of inspiration for older adults who want to make a meaningful impact in their community. As a caregiver, she recognized a need and used her creativity and persistence to create a service that benefits her community.

At the age of 70, she started a business called Access & Design, a local contractor specializing in universal design and modifying homes to help seniors remain safe and comfortable in their homes. Through her innovative approach and unwavering dedication, she has empowered countless seniors to age in place with dignity and independence.

As an educator and advocate for AARP, Arlene shares her expertise on senior housing, helping to inform and empower residents over 50. She leads AARP Tampa Bay’s HomeFit program, teaching practical ways to adapt living spaces for independence in later years.

Arlene's impact reaches even further through her collaboration with Pinellas County Emergency Management, where she conducts HomeFit presentations across the county. These efforts are complemented by the distribution of 1000 HomeKit Guides to residents through first responders and Meals on Wheels, ensuring that vital resources reach those who need them most.

Beyond her work in housing and emergency preparedness, Arlene is deeply involved in initiatives aimed at creating more livable communities for people of all ages and abilities. From her involvement in Falls Free Pinellas to her role as Chair of the St. Petersburg Commission on Aging, Arlene's advocacy touches every aspect of community life.

Arlene Grosso's tireless dedication and unwavering passion serve as an inspiration to us all. she is a valued volunteer whose passion for helping others shines through in everything she does and we are thankful for the time that she volunteers with AARP Florida.
