The novel unveils the extraordinary story of Thomas Smallwood, a self-liberated abolitionist who led hundreds to freedom from slavery. Set in the 1840s, the self-educated shoemaker organized escapes while racing against slave traders. The narrative exposes the inhumanity of the era, offering insights into today's racial inequities.

Don't miss this glimpse into an untold American hero's journey and connect with the author of this fascinating American novel. Register to book your seat today. https://events.aarp.org/aeXeOD
