Learn about the creation of the galleries with some of the project leaders, and get a glimpse behind the scenes at dynamic new spaces.

3:00pm: DIY StoryCorps - Festival Center on the New Haven Green
1 hr / Free Reservations

Join us for a special storytelling event led by seasoned storyteller Saul Fussiner, followed by the opportunity to record your story for potential submission to StoryCorps. The theme of the event is celebration, and Saul will guide participants through a short workshop to hone their storytelling skills. Kevin Ewing will be on hand to assist with the recording process. Don't miss this chance to share your story and celebrate the power of narrative!

5:30pm: City Parks - New Haven's Natural Beauties - New Haven Green

Park Enthusiast Sydney Collins will take you on a journey through some of New Haven's parks. You'll learn about conservation efforts and the triumphs and challenges to maintaining the natural land.

6:00pm: Elm City: The Heartbeat of Connecticut - Festival Center on the New Haven Green

Embark on a cinematic odyssey that celebrates the vibrant tapestry of the Hill, Dixwell, Newhallville, Fair Haven, Long Wharf, and West Hills/West Rock neighborhoods. This compelling new documentary delves deep into the roots, evolution, and future prospects of these diverse communities. Join us for an enlightening Q&A session as we explore the cultural richness that defines our city. Don’t miss this captivating cinematic experience!

7:30pm: A Slice (of What’s to Come) - Next Door

New Haven is a pizza town. Or, more appropriately, apizza town. But what does this iconic American food - with roots in New Haven’s immigrant and labor communities past - say about our present moment, for our city and our culture? Join A Broken Umbrella Theatre (last seen at the Festival in 2013 with the award-winning Freewheelers), as they present A Slice, a preview of a larger work that will debut at Arts & Ideas 2025. A Slice includes a pizza tasting, a walk-through of New Haven pizza history with Taste of New Haven’s Colin Caplan, and a discussion with Broken Umbrella’s creative team about devising new work and why we love New Haven apizza!
